A few months ago we let you know that a “cash flow problem” temporarily shut down production on the “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” Broadway musical that will feature music by U2’s Bono and the Edge. Well, rollingstone.com is now reporting that this production has hit another snag as Evan Rachel Wood, the actress originally cast in the role of Peter Parker’s love interest, has left the musical. Her exit of the production is due to a “scheduling conflict”.
The budget for “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” has reportedly grown to about $50 million dollars, making it one of the most expensive shows in Broadway history. Fans who previously bought tickets to the original dates of this play have received refunds after the show was delayed. It will now likely begin its preview run in late summer with an opening date right around Halloween, though those dates remain unconfirmed by the show’s production team.

I have been anxiously awaiting this show because I love Julie Taymore and U2. And now with such a huge price tag, I can’t wait to see what the money bought.
