americanidolsimon2010Yahoo Music is now confirming what we posted a few weeks back and that is Simon Cowell will leave American Idol after this season which kicks off tonight on FOX TV at 8pm. Now, I’m no genius, but with all of the recent A.I cast changes and lower ratings the last few years is this just another publicity stunt to get their ratings up?

Simon’s decision to leave is based on the fact that he wants to bring his realty show “X Factor” to the US. It will be to difficult for him to find the time to do both shows. While he makes a reported $36 million a year on “American Idol,” as the owner of “The X Factor” he could make much more than that if the show takes off. Simon went on to talk about leaving A.I…

I was offered a lot of money to stay on. But that wasn’t the reason behind it. I wanted to do something different. I wanted a new challenge.

Peter Price, chairman of the Fox Broadcasting Co., would not speculate on possible replacements for Simon.

We have to take our time on that. We have to make sure the chemistry of the judges is as good as it can be.

Who do you think can fill Simon’s seat on American Idol Season 10? Let us read your names in the comment box below. Oh and make sure to come back tomorrow for our full re-cap of tonight’s auditions in Atlanta, GA.
