newsboysshoesoulaudio.com is reporting that The Newsboys recently inked a deal with American Athletics, a licensed Converse shoe distributor, to launch their very own line of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes. Now, I’m no genius but aren’t these shoes for basketball players? This is the first time that these Converse shoes have been branded with a Christian music artist’s logo.

Chuck Taylor All Star shoes have become a cultural icon, donning the names of legendary bands including Black Sabbath, The Doors, Grateful Dead, The Who, Ozzy Osbourne, and now the Newsboys. American Athletics owner Gary Church talks about this new partnership…

American Athletics has placed shoes on the feet of Mel Gibson, Whitney Houston, and the likes of Bob Dylan. But I personally have never been involved with a group as excited to wear Chucks as the Newsboys. Great group…great shoe. Both are All Stars.

The Newsboys manager Wes Campbell went on to say…

The opportunity to be associated with Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars is exciting. I have personally worn them for years. The Newsboys is a great choice to break into this market. We launched the shoes on their current “The Way We Roll Tour”, which will run through mid-November.

The new Newsboys branded Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars are available in red, black, blue, and pink, in either low or hi tops. The Newsboys logo shoes can only be ordered online. They recently performed their new song “Glorious” at the Uprise Festival ’09 in Shippensburg, PA. Do you see these new shoes on their feet? Better yet, do you see these new shoes on your feet? Let us know if you pick them up and how they feel by posting your comments in the box below this video.
