When a band or artist offers a pre-ordered autograph copy of their new project I’ve often found myself wondering if they really sign each and every copy. Now, this may have more to do with the Photoshop world we live in today, but never fear the David Crowder Band is here to squash my concerns.
Well, at least for the vinyl copies of their LP’s for the new “Church Music” Special Pre-Order Packages that their fans around the world recieved today. This video features track #15 “Oh, Happiness” which is what you’ll feel once your ears hear this amazing new project over the next few days. Make sure to come back and share your review of their new project in the comment box below this video.

When I first started listening to the record, I was not fully excited. I cannot say that I fully enjoy every track on the album because of my musical preferences. However, I must say that the album as a whole is another master stroke for David Crowder Band. On so many different levels this album, in much the same way A Collision was, is thought out quite thoroughly. Each song shares a sonic quality with it lyrics, whether by design or not, this is quite amazing. From “All Around Me” to the end, you are taken on an emotion and sonic journey that is breathtaking, in a literal sense. In my opinion, the band disarms you with a haunting rendition of “All Around Me” that uses lyrics that are, frankly, more suited for the female sex (which is why the song is disarming) but when sung by Crowder more poignantly express the experience of being in the presence of God. After the track has fully readied your emotions they hit you with the powerful truth of God’s love in “How He Loves” and then gives you a refreshing relaxation period in “Can I Lie Here”. From here the album goes on a wonderfully happy tour of various expressions of corporate worship. Despite my best efforts I have not been able to break out into horribly bad dancing or head bobbing while listening to “Church Music” or kept myself from smiling at the the joy captured in “Oh Happiness”. The amazing sonic power behind “God Almighty, None Compares” serves to show the awesome power of God while showing us that the band is, to put it quite plainly, freakin’ monster thrashers. I could go on, and I have already trapped a few people to share my entire thoughts on the album. I have to say that it is one of the best, most unique, well thought out and superbly executed albums I have heard in a while. The bands songwriting has matured and the “chaos” of this album is never out of control as they take us on a history lesson, and spiritual journey, all within the confines of an amazingly fun album.
