relientkforgetcd09Relient K frontman Matt Thiessen has said in numerous interviews over the last few months that their new project “Forget And Not Slow” down is based around the break-up of his engagement to his fiance Shannon. Our readers have been following the highs and lows of this relationship for the last year and to finally hear the songs on this project it clearly shows that he still loves her.

Track #1 “Forget And Not Slow Down” & Track #2 “I Don’t Need A Soul” really set the pace for the message of this new project. If we continue to run from any over our  relationships, but don’t really slow down to deal with ourselves first then any future relationships will be just as difficult.

Track #7 “Therapy” is perfectly placed in the middle of this project. It talks about how God usually gets our attention most when we’re all alone. Instead of going to a professional to share your aches and pains we should turn to the true healer of hearts and souls. Check out he chorus for this song…

“This is just like therapy, let’s call it what it is, not what we were, with a deep-grip on this life always transitioning, this is just therapy, cause you won’t take my calls and that makes God the only one who’s left here listening to me.”

As you work through the rest of the tracks on this project you’ll learn that if you’ve ever loved someone and had them walk out of your life for one reason or another then make sure to stop, slow down and drop this new project “Forget And Not Slow Down” into your i-pod, CD player or computer and hear about His healing hand for your hurting heart and soul.

  1. This album is brilliant. Some of the songs are so beautiful they make me want to cry.

This album is a DRASTIC departure from all of their former cd’s. If you have followed Relient K’s albums closely like I have, you will see major maturity develop between them. “Forget And Not Slow Down” is a departure from the pop-punk/rock sound of “Five Score and Seven Years Ago”. This album is very sad and personal, but inspirational at the same time. Definitely a very good album to listen to, the lyrics are insightful.

This is a very solid album. It plays through the highs and lows of Matt’s and most peoples relationships. I only hope Lebron James doesn’t leave Cleveland because I don’t know how much more heart ache that Matt can go through?!?!?
