In our “Get To Know” posts we typically try to introduce you to new artists, but while Katie may not be an artist her story is inspiring other artists to tell her story. It’s for that reason alone I wanted you to get to know Katie McRae.
I first heard about her from my friend Audrey Assad. She is a Nashville based singer/songwriter/worship leader and is exceptionally gifted when it comes to those things.
Last weekend, Audrey tuned into a Global Night of Prayer for Kate McRae. While listening via the web and praying, Audrey just sensed that God was giving her the words to a song for Kate. It was a song of hope and prolific for that matter. She penned the words right then and there during prayer, but, did not have the melody. She prayed that God would give her a strong melody to accompany these beautiful, hopeful lyrics. Here’s what she came up with for Katie…

Monday June 29th, 2009 began like every other day for Kate McRae, and ended like one no could have never imagined. Kate was taken to the Dr. for tremors in her right hand. Her parents proceeded to Phoenix Childrens Hospital for a stat CT of her head. At 5:30pm Holly, Kate’s mom, was taken into a room alone and told Kate had a massive tumor on the basil ganglia portion of her brain. She then called her dad and their journey has begun.
It’s a journey they never would have chose to be a part of, but was chosen for them, and their sweet Kate. Katie is now in the Phoneix Childrens ICU awaiting tests to determine what it is and how far progressed.
We’re joining Audrey in getting Katie’s story out to you today. Please be praying for Katie and her family during this trial. Also, if you know of parents in your area facing medical issues with their own children please share this song with them so they too know that He has his eyes on their children.
