We are BIG fans of U2 but, even we had no idea that Paul David Hewson, (Bono to the world) cofounded an organization called “One“, which is a grassroots campaign and advocacy organization backed by more than 2 million people who are committed to the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa.
Say what you want about his foul language or disdane for his glasses, but if we all just spent a few minutes reading these spirtual quotes from Bono we’ll know exactly why One is so important in his life. Maybe, just maybe you too can find the One who wants to save your life through his quotes.
> Grace defies reason and logic. Love interrupts, if you like, the consequences of your actions, which in my case is very good news indeed, because I’ve done a lot of stupid stuff.
> The Gospels paint a picture of a very demanding, sometimes divisive love, but love it is.
> Religion can be the enemy of God. It’s often what happens when God, like Elvis, has left the building.
> It’s a mind-blowing concept that the God who created the universe might be looking for company, a real relationship with people, but the thing that keeps me on my knees is the difference between Grace and Karma.
> There’s nothing hippie about my picture of Christ.
> The Church has its problems, but the older I get, the more comfort I find there.
> I just kind of go: Well, I think I know what God is. God is love, and as much as I respond in allowing myself to be transformed by that love and acting in that love, that’s my religion.
If you hear people questioning Bono’s faith in Christ please share these spiritual quotes with them. Then they can stop judging him based on his actions and start accepting him based on their love for him as our brother in Christ. At the end of the day isn’t that what we want for our own lives? People to love us for who we are and not judge us for the mistakes we make.
