melindacomingbackcdMelinda Doolittle has sung backup on Gospel and Christian albums for CeCe Winans, Anointed and the Ragamuffin Band among others. Well, she won’t be singing back-up for anyone anytime soon because her debut CD “Coming Back to You” claimed Amazon’s No. 1 Contemporary R&B and No. 2 Soul chart positions in its first week of release.

A 2007 “American Idol” finalist Doolittle delivers a critically acclaimed collection of retro soul, R&B and funk covers and previously unreleased originals on her debut. Produced by Mike Mangini.

In addition to its availability at mainstream stores, Christian retailers are also shelving “Coming Back To You” because of the album’s strong spiritual undertones and her history within the industry.
