Krystal Meyers new project “Make Some Noise” dropped back in September and it’s literally making some noise in mainstream media. The music video, for the title track was featured on Yahoo Music, the project is available now at Target and she’s a huge hit in Japan. Well, we caught up with the now 19 year old about this third studio project, why she’s a huge fan of Gwen Staffani and why Justin Tmberlake’s current project is very moving to her every time she listens to it..
ST.net: Where are you and what are you doing today?
Krystal: I am on my way to play in St. Louis with my band guys on the Revolve tour!
.
ST.net: I’m not going to waste any time, but why in the heck don’t I hear the single “Make Some Noise” on Christian or mainstream radio? It’s such an amazing song that has a wayyyyy better message than any song Britney, Madonna or even Katy Perry has out right now. O.K. I digress, where did you get the inspiration for this song?
Krystal: Hahahaha!!! Awww thank you!!! I really appreciate that!
I got the inspiration from how so many people think that the generation of this day and age have nothing to give to the world! I personally don’t think that’s true at all! These might be more desperate times but because of that there are people who are wanting to change the world and be even louder about what they believe in more than ever!!! If you want people to hear what you have to say you have to shake things up and MAKE SOME NOISE!!! Haha!
ST.net: What one artist (Christian or mainstream) had the biggest impact on you?
Krystal: I’ve always found Gwen Stefani to be incredible and Silverchair and Jimmy Eat World were bands that just made me love music! I also loved listening to old Mariah albums as a kid! Her old stuff is the best!!
oh yeah and Patty Griffin and Imogen Heap!! I can’t forget those two!!
ST.net: What song (Christian or mainstream) right now makes you cry?
Krystal: I don’t think there’s been a song out lately that’s moved me to tears! Haha! Though I will say Justin Timberlake’s last album is very moving… Puts me in a good place every time I listen to it!
ST.net: If you could go to any other artists show, (Christian or mainstream), who would it be and why?
Krystal: I’d die to see a Gwen or No Doubt show!! I’ve just been such a fan since I was a kid! It would be quite nostalgic!
ST.net: How did you become such a HUGE star in Japan?
Krystal: Oh man I loooove LOVE Japan and the Japanese fans! They are so amazing! To me, everything that has happened over there has just been a God thing and I’m so blessed and excited to be a part of their musical culture! I have such a huge heart for the people over there! They have been such a blessing to me!
ST.net: What’s the coolest or most interesting thing that’s happened to you while overseas?
Krystal: In July we went to Tokyo for the release show of Make Some Noise and it was the day the record came out and everyone already knew all the words, which was amazing and they were soooo into it! And the best part was right before our last song this GINORMOUS birthday cake was brought on stage and the whole Japanese audience sang me Happy Birthday in English and it was SO cute!!!
of course I’m the girl who almost caught her hair on fire because of the birthday candles! hahaha!
ST.net: What’s the one thing you “Must Have” on the road?
Krystal: Well there’s a ton of things I have to have out there with me, but I always have my Bible and Journal with me! And tea and honey!!
ST.net: Mac Makeup or Bare Essentials?
Krystal: DEFINITELY MAC!!
ST.net: Victoria Secrets Lotion or Bath & Body Works Lotion?
Krystal: Victoria ‘s Secret Love Spell is one of the best smells ever!!
ST.net: Are you a cat or dog person?
Krystal: Aww I love both but I guess if I have to choose it would be Dogs! Haha! I want a Great Dane really bad!!
ST.net: Answering these questions do you feel you blessed or stressed?
Krystal: BLESSED!!!
ST.net: Which do you visit more your MySpace page or Facebook page?
Krystal: Facebook, but that’s because I have the Facebook app on my blackberry! But I get on myspace daily too!
ST.net: Do you prefer a Sonic hamburger or an In -n- Out burger?
Krystal: In-n-Out fo shooo!
ST.net: If you had to choose between a mexican restaurant or sushi restaurant which would you choose?
Krystal: SUSHI!!!
ST.net: Are you more interested in the journey God is taking you on or are you more focused on reaching the destination He has for your music and ministry?
Krystal: The daily journey for sure! God has so many amazing opportunities for us daily that if we focus to much on the future we can lose sight of the task at hand! Music and ministry is a piece of the journey God has me on! Can’t miss out on the rest of it!
ST.net: Thanks Krystal and we pray that God continues to use your music all over the world to heal those of your generation and mine that are hurting, lost or broken.
Krystal: Awww thank you so much!!!!!
This was awesome!!!
