Last week we shared with you the BIG news that Needtobreathe’s music is now being heard on mainstream radio. Well, we just had to get an interview with them now before they’re to busy to hook up with us down the road. Thanks to our good friend Andrea at Curb Records we got an exclusive interview with Joe who tells us about his worst day job, why he’d like to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers live and how he found 20 bucks on a roller coaster.

Who’s checking in with StereoTruth.net?

This is Joe, from NEEDTOBREATHE.

ST.net: Where are you and what are you doing today?

Joe: Today I’m in Boston getting ready to play a show.

ST.net: What’s your favorite thing about playing music?

Joe: My favorite thing about playing music is getting to show people something we’ve created and have them connect with it in their own ways.

ST.net:
What was your worst day job before you got signed?

Joe:
I was a mixer at a bagel shop. I made all the dough and made the bagels. It was very messy.

ST.net:
What one artist Christian or Mainstream has had the biggest impact on you?

Joe:
Jump, Little Children has had the biggest impact on me. They are a great band from South Carolina that was around when I was in high school and college. They are amazing and I was always very encouraged by the music they came out with.

ST.net: What music are you listening to these days?

Joe: Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Ray LaMontagne and old Joe Cocker records. It’s all very soulful, which I love.

ST.net: If you could go to any other artists show, Christian or mainstream, who would it be and why?

Joe: I would go see Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. They are absolutely legendary, and I want to get a chance to see them live.

ST.net:
What’s the one thing you “Must Have” on the road?

Joe: Right now it’s my computer so that I can keep up with my fantasy football teams.

ST.net:
What’s the coolest or most interesting thing that’s happened to you on the road?

Joe:
We got introduced one time by Hulk Hogan.  That was pretty much amazing.

ST.net:
Do you prefer to eat at Cracker Barrel or Denny’s?

Joe: It depends on the time of day. Cracker Barrel for daytime, Denny’s for late night.

ST.net: Are you a cat or dog person?

Joe: Dog person. Definitely. Cat’s are stuck up.

ST.net: Do you Google your band to see what people may be saying?

Joe: Sometimes. It’s always good to know where you stand in internet world.

ST.net: Have you ever found anything interesting?

Joe: I once found twenty dollars on a rollercoaster.

ST.net: We meant on Google, but hey finding 20 bucks on a roller coaster is cool. How did you pick it up?

ST.net: What has God shown your in the last few weeks?

Joe: Lately God has shown me that I need to be very patient. God has His own sense of timing, and it may frustrate us sometimes, but it always works out in the end.

ST.net: Thanks for your time Joe and we pray that God continues to open doors for you and Needtobreathe to find the lost through your music and ministry.

This was right before their 1st sellout show in Boston.

God is doing amazing things through this band and that’s going to be reflected in their next album. They’re heading into the studio over the winter to produce it! After they’ve hit the Road with Gavin DeGraw and Third Day :D
