Last week we shared with you that our friend Tina at WAY-FM in Huntsville, AL would be trying out for next years American Idol. Tina is currently the morning show co-host of the “Jack & Tina in the morning” show, their Promotions Director and potentially the next American Idol. Well, yesterday she had her audition and is now sharing the news with us about her crazy day.

ST.net – When did you arrive?

Tina – I arrived in Louisville, KY on Friday Night to get prepared for American Idol Auditions. On Saturday, we got in line to register at 7:00am, and we only stood in line for two hours before we were walking out with our registration and wrist bands! Then yesterday, we started standing in line at 2:30am to wait to enter Freedom Hall. We didn’t have to be there that early, but in order to truly take in the experience of American Idol, you have to get there early! We were toward the front of the line watching as all the News affiliates were broadcasting live on location. After several hours of chatting with others around us, we made our way inside Freedom Hall.

ST.net – How long did you wait in line to audition?

Tina – We were inside at around 7:45am and we made our way to our seats where we would sit until my time to audition. My audition took place at 4:00pm. We waited inside for 8 hours for my audition, but if you count the time spent outside, we were there for 14 hours.

ST.net – Did you see Simon?

Tina – I did not get to see Simon. He Paula and Randy will not be in Louisville for auditions until September. When you make it through the first round, which took place at Freedom Hall, you are taken back to the winners circle where you fill out information about yourself. After filling out the paperwork, you are given an information sheet that tells you when and where the next audition will be held with Randy Simon and Paula.

ST.net - What was the strangest thing you saw?

Tina – The strangest things I saw was a man dressed as a zebra who sang the theme song from the Lion King, and a girl who dressed up as Mickey Mouse. She had the ears, face painted, and a long tail! Not too many outlandish people this year though.

ST.net – What song did you end up singing?

Tina – I chose to sing Wild Angels, by Martina McBride. I wanted to sing something a little more upbeat.

ST.net – Will you be moving on to the next round?

Tina – I will not be moving onto the next round, but that is ok for me. I count my blessings for having the chance to audition at all. Just being there among the others, and having the opportunity to see how it all takes place is amazing. So, it’s not my time to sing, and it may never be in my life blueprints to sing like that, but being there to enjoy the experience is enough for me!

ST.net – Well we would like you to be our next American Idol guest writer now that you have experience under your belt. Any interest on helping us keep track of next years show and contestants?

Tina – I would love to….. What do I do?!?!?!?!? hee hee

ST.net – It’s easy just share your thoughts on the auditions. We did this during last years show and our readers ate it up. I also thin it would be fun to have a female perspective to go along with mine.

ST.net – Tina thanks again for your time and were sorry things didn’t work out this year.

Tina – Thank you so much for allowing me to share this with you! It was so much fun, and hopefully, I will have another chance to do it again.
