I just read an amazing article in this months Rolling Stone Magazine where they went behind the scenes at a recent Jonas Brothers show in Phoenix, AZ. I was so moved by how their Dad and the guys keep their faith alive in the midst of all their current success that I had to share it with you today.
The brothers Jonas — Nick, 15, Joe, 18, and Kevin, 20 — are preparing to start their show. But, before they can hit the stage the backstage hallway quickly fills with members of the extended Jonas family. Including the band’s co-manager, Phil McIntyre, and their other co-manager Dad Kevin Jonas Sr.. He was a Christian musician back in the day and also a church pastor before the boys music career took off.
The group forms a circle and clasps hands. Then Kevin Sr. says…
Two quick things, we brought four people from the grass all the way to the front row tonight, so they’re pretty excited. Look out for a girl’s softball team that just had a 13-year-old teammate killed in an ATV accident. They’re right at the end of the catwalk, one of them is wearing the shirt the girl was going to wear tonight.
This is a Jonas norm — plucking die-hards from the nosebleeds and giving them the best seats in the house. Kevin Sr. dips his head in prayer…
Heavenly father, we just pray that you’ll bless us this time, let it be fun and safe and exciting. Thank you for all the people that are here. We were at 60%just a week ago, and it looks full. Lord, we just pray that every person will be encouraged in Jesus’ name.
Big Rob their bodyguard escorts Nick, Kevin and Joe to their places on stage. Suddenly, the lights go dark, triggering a roar in the 20,000-seat arena. To know that these guys are doing this before every show, every night is just awesome. They’re living the musical dream performing every night, gracing the cover of Rolling Stone and thanking the Lord for all of it along the way. Continue to keep these guys, their family and crew in your prayers.
This is how the whole day came together at the Rolling Stone photo shot.

Yea I’m not afraid to say I really like these guys! Even if I’m about 2 years older than Kevin. I think what they are doing is great and they seem like such great kids that are really driven my faith and that’s so important. It would be cool to meet them one day and just really see what it’s like for them. That would be interesting. Thanks for blogging about them.
oh and btw…where did you find the magazine? I can’t seem to find it anywhere…
To read their entire interview in Rolling Stone just click on the “Rolling Stone” link in our post and search for them by name. I think the story is titled “Son of a preacher man”.
I’ve liked the Jonas Brothers ever since the first CD came out. I’m really glad i heard about this. It seems that all “claim to be christian” celebrities have lost sight of what really matters. I’m glad these guys are staying on track with God. I pray for them all the time so they can keep focus and not crack under pressure. It must be really hard for them. i have a small dose of that because I’m a pastors kid, but i can’t imagine what it must be like to be in their shoes. It would be so cool to meet them some day.
Honestly, I love these guys. I love how about their faith they are, but it kills me to see this article..and than look at the cover of the magazine.
Just goes to show that Hollywood can screw with your head even for a second.
I really hope these guys does lose focus fully, because all of the people that have gotten into them like I have, know what amazing people they truley are.
**don’t lose focus fully.
We have to be careful how we view people who claim to be christians. I don’t know anything about the Jonas Bros. Band. What I do get from this article is why would these guys dad leave one of the most rewarding responsabilities, being a pastor. Also what exactly are they doing with this new found fame to bring about Gods kingdom to a hurting and lost generation? So they pray backstage, this is great, but we also need to be putting out the message of Jesus Christ out there. I realize that the message of Christ is not the most poopular one out there today. Now I’m wondering what is truly more important to the Jonas Bros. Band and their dad, their personal fame or the message of our savior Jesus Christ.
Hey Robert
One of our goals at StereoTruth.net is to make our readers aware of Christians who happen to play mainstream music. I personally feel that they are probably the only mainstream band today that takes the time to know their fans and what they may be going through. It amazes me that they would take the time to bring these two young girls who just lost their friend in a car accident down to the front row for this show. Then on top of that they prayed for them and everyone who was in attendance. As far as why would their Dad leave the ministry you’d have to ask him. I’d say it’s better to have him on the road with them then some run of the mill manager that may not have their best interests in mind.
Robert,
I think it’s a no brainer why their dad left his ministry to take care of his kids on the road. What an awesome ministry to work on. One that reaches millions is much better than one that may reach a few thousand…
Doesn’t the way they think of their fans, the way they care about their well being, the way they pray that people have a good time help to deliver God’s kingdom? Just because they don’t sing praise/worship music doesn’t mean they aren’t living and promoting Christian values…

Hey that is sooooooo cool that they pray before a show !!! they are soooo hot !!!!!!!!!
Hey JoBros !!!!
First of all — what a great blog concept! I think the Jonas Brothers live lives that speak volumes about the love and hope offered in Christ. I’m a 27-year-old fan that came to be so after investigating these guys that had each of my nieces so completely enthralled. Because I’m supposed to be the “young cool aunt”, I take it as a personal responsibility to be relevant for them and know about their passions and interests. So, of course, I had to find out how much damage control I needed to do (totally under the radar of course) over these guys. Well, after really looking into their lyrics and watching and reading multiple interviews I was amazed at how the way they live their faith — the way Christ is so evident in their lives — began to inspire me. They rarely speak overtly about their faith and honestly, they rarely need to. These boys honor their parents, they honor their fans, they remain completely humble and grateful for everything that God has given them. People talk about their purity rings as being one of the main signs of their faith but I’ve seen young stars talk about purity before and there isn’t much in the way they act that makes you believe it. These guys live in such a way that I would believe it whether I saw the rings or not. It’s not within human nature to live the selfless and genuine lives that they live. It’s only evidence of being a new creation. I don’t mean to glorify these boys as much as I mean to highlight the “fingerprints of God” on their lives. I’m sure they would be the first to confess that everything that they are is a precious gift of grace. Christ has used them to make me take a serious look into my life to see if I’m dying to self and letting Him live through me in the same way. Do I have those goods? They’ve really stirred that desire up in me. I want to be that city on a hill. I may not have millions of teenage girls monitoring every move I make, but can people see Christ in me? I hope so. So, for any of you wondering whether they really have a ministry? Well, they’ve certainly ministered to me. They’ve challenged me in my own faith. And beyond all that….I’ve totally become a HUGE fan of their music…Burnin Up….Tonight…..WYLMITE….Hello Beautiful…..That’s Just The Way We Roll…..I’m LOVIN IT!!!!
first of all that there dad is very good manager plus bowing there there heads for good luck !!!!!!
