We got this e-mail from Joe of NEEDTOBREATHE late in the day on Saturday and wanted to make sure your in the loop on the latest with the band. It looks like they rocked out in the rain at this weekend Icthus Festival, they take turns driving the van (who knew) and his new favorite snack is microwaved edamames. If you don’t know what an edamame is there usually served at Sushi restaurants while you wait for your meal. I’m a fan of these little green beans, but I don’t know about the whole microwave thing.

We’re in Virginia today enjoying a rare day off. At the moment I’m trapped in my hotel room because of the thunderstorm outside, so it’s blog time. We were in Kentucky yesterday at the Ichthus Festival. We were doing a shorter set, which is typical of festivals, so Washed by the Water was the last song. We started the song, and right as we hit the first notes it started to rain. Normally rain during your set is a disaster at an outdoor festival, but everybody stuck around. I think people realized that it’s not very often you see lyrical content and mother nature come together so serendipitously. Everybody was way into the moment after that, and as we ended the song, the rain stopped. Pretty amazing. You wouldn’t believe the strings we had to pull to make that happen. After the festival we embarked on the eight-hour drive to Virginia. I got the second shift of driving, so I was the lucky one who got to navigate the mountains of West Virginia. It wasn’t that bad, though, cause Wes brought me my new favorite snack. Microwavable edamame! This stuff is fantastic! Four minutes in the microwave and you’ve got hot, fresh edamame. I’m in the process of working out an endorsement deal.
