Getting to know Abandon

June 30, 2008 · Filed Under Artist News · Comment

When my good friend Mo at Nightvision Management (Fireflight, Everyday Sunday & Ruth) sent me this e-mail about their new band Abandon I knew even before hearing the first note that I was in for a treat. You see Mo and his company just flat out “get it”. They don’t just sign up to manage any band, they sign up to manage bands with a passion for the Lord and a talent to rock the joint. Here’s what Mo went on to say… Read more

Yes, Neil Diamond is a Christian!

June 30, 2008 · Filed Under Artist News · 7 Comments

After months and months of discussion here on StereoTruth.net I’ve finally found the answer to the question…Is Neil Diamond a Christian? This past weekend Neil played at the Glastonbury Festival in Pilton, England. This festival is best known for its contemporary music, but also features dance, comedy, theater, circus, and many other events. Over 700 acts played on over 80 stages during the three day festival.

While looking for video of his performance at Glastonbury, I came across this live performance on the BBC where he talks in great detail about his journey with the Lord and goes on to sing a song called “Man Of God”…

Mainstream Spotlight: Anberlin

June 30, 2008 · Filed Under Interview · 1 Comment

If you’re a regular reader of ST.net then you know that Anberlin is right at the top of my list for favorite bands. Well, thanks to my new friend Kevin at Universal Records I’ve scored the interview of my blogging career, even though I’ve only been blogging since January. When I got Kevin’s e-mail back with Stephen’s answers to my questions he once again stretched my mind to find God in everything and everyday.

Before you head off to the interview here’s a little back ground if you don’t know where Anberlin has been or where they’re headed with their next and first major label release “New Surrender”. Anberlin formed in 2002 and they’re from Winter Haven, Florida. Since the beginning of 2007 their line-up has consisted of lead vocalist Stephen Christian, bassist Deon Rexroat, lead guitarist Joseph Milligan, drummer Nathan Young and rhythm guitarist Christian McAlhaney. The band has released four albums and an EP in their six-year run and have sold over 400,000 albums to date. Read more

Reflection: Marriage and God

June 29, 2008 · Filed Under Reflection · Comment

I’ve just spent the last 25 hours hanging out with a large number of people that think marriage is one of the greatest things a person can be called to do.  I’m writing from a hotel room in Ontario, California at the World Wide Marriage Encounter (WWME) convention.  In celebrating their 40th year, WWME has turned countless marriages from good, or even not-so-good, into great, or, dare I say, even blissful marriages.

Kim and I went on our first weekend back in August of last year, and in the time since that original weekend, we’ve discovered a set of fantastic tools and ideas that help us make our marriage the number one priority in our lives.  Not my job, not our kids, not my hobbies… not even this blog come before my wife.

June 28, 2008 · Filed Under Hollywood · Comment

In case you’ve been in a box or out of the world for the last two years Miley Cyrus is the talk among teens. You may know her better as Hannah Montana the Disney Channel star. I know all about her due to the fact that my own girls (Isabella 9 & Grace 7) force me to watch her show every night. Her Dad is none other than Billy Ray Cyrus you know the guy that brought us Achy Breaky Heart and put the mullet back in style.

Billboard Magazine caught up with this teen sensation to talk with her about her new project, “Breakout.” due in stores July 22nd. In fact, there’s a good chance your kids (like mine) are already singing her first single “7 Thing” that’s playing all over mainstream radio right now. Read more

The Moaster is a compressed CO2 powered toaster. It officially set the Guinness World Record for height at 2m 60cm, but that was just the height of their ceiling.
