Eowyn shares a new miracle

May 31, 2008 · Filed Under Artist News · Comment

In March, we blogged about how Eowyn was on tour and they were having some serious transportation issues. A couple in California read their blog and felt that God wanted them to help. God told this couple He wanted to show Eowyn that He was a provider and that He wanted them to continue with the work He started. They then overnighted a $10,000 check to her. Well, according to this e-mail we just got from her, it looks like bus troubles continue, but God provided another miracle…

Hey guys! :) I just wanted to say hello.

I’m just sitting on the bus watching “Indiana Jones” …one of the old ones, and I realized I hadn’t said hey in awhile. I hope you guys have been having a blessed week. Mine was full of some challenges for sure, but once again, God came through.

Checking in with Kalel from Pillar

May 31, 2008 · Filed Under Artist News · Comment

It looks like the boys (yes, this time they’re being boys) of Pillar are back to their usual craziness. Here’s the e-mail and video that Kalel sent us…

Hello guys. How you all been doing?

Pillar and I have been flying out every weekend playing shows and then hanging with family during the week. The shows have been great, but the flying is tough. We always have to wake up between 3:30-4:30 am to get to the airports in time. Recently we performed at Busch Gardens amusement park in Virginia. I don’t remember how the show went, but I do remember the roller coasters! Of course Lester didn’t go on any. I snuck my Flip video camera on the rides so you all can see. I only got in trouble once. Check out the new video below and my other acts of boredom. Here’s a video….

Metallica + Warner Brothers = Big bucket o’ fail

Note: Some of the links in this story go to sites that may use… salty language. Consider yourself warned.

A great big bucket o\' fail

So, the internet has a long, elephantine, memory. Now, the guys in Metallica and their label are finding out just how long that memory can be. It appears that Lars and the boys want to cash in on some of the success of other visionaries (Radiohead and NIN) and hop on the digital download bandwagon. The biggest problem is (Aside from the fact that they seem to have forgotten the part where they ticked off pretty much everyone at the time) that they’re doing it WRONG!

Never mind what I think of Metallica or their music, I’m not getting into that here… this is about the business decisions the band is making, pure and simple. Read more

Earlier this month Phil Wickham streamed and recorded a live concert album from Portland, OR, giving fans across the country and around the world the chance to participate. His popularity from that event has helped him grow on YouTube, where the video of an acoustic performance of his song “Hallelujah” has made him the 74th “Top-Watched Musician” on the site. He recorded it from his hotel room on a recent visit to Nashville.

High concert ticket prices could hurt summer concerts

May 30, 2008 · Filed Under Festivals · 1 Comment

Rollingstone.com is reporting on a possible slowdown in concert ticket sales this summer. Despite a summer of more festivals than ever, and an even more diverse roster of bands touring, the U.S. economic slowdown and $4-a-gallon gasoline are driving up ticket prices for many of these shows and could keep fans home. Randy Phillips, president of concert promoter AEG Live had this to say…

The costs are increasing — that will get reflected in the ticket price and it’s more expensive for people to go to things, so they’ve got to really pick and choose how they spend their disposable income.

Checking in with David Cook

May 29, 2008 · Filed Under Hollywood · Comment

yahoomusic.com is reporting today that David Cook has 17 songs on the top 200 Hot Digital Songs chart. In fact the new #1, “Time Of My Life,” opens up with a healthy total of 236,000 downloads this week! His 17 songs have a combined total of 944,000 paid downloads. I don’t think he’ll need to go back to bartending anytime soon.

We too know by your comments and e-mails that you’re very hungry to find out what David Cook’s up to next. Well, grab a piece of paper to take notes and turn up your speakers.

FREE Downhere “Wide Eyed And Mystified” download

May 29, 2008 · Filed Under Artist News · Comment

We’ve quickly become BIG fans of Downhere and now you’ll have your chance to become a fan too. Their record company Centricity Music has partnered with musicchristian.com to offer a free download of “Wide Eyed And Mystified” during the month of June.

The 13 musically diverse songs that comprise “Wide-Eyed And Mystified” have, as their unifying center, not only a hard-won sonic identity that comes through the band’s years of playing as a unit, but a deeper cohesion drawn from the web of relationships. Rooted in love for Christ, this connection extends from the band to the circle of people closest to them, and outward to the hundreds of churches they serve each year in ministry. Read more
