I think it’s safe to say that most of us believe last night’s American Idol Results were, once again, completely wrong. But, in an effort to prolong the drama and keep you reading (I’m beginning to sound like FOX TV) today I have to remind you of the big announcement from last night. This year’s mentors will be (drum roll please!) – Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Neil Diamond. If these are the mentors for tomorrow’s pop/rock stars I think we’re all in for a wild ride.
There was a little drama right out of the gate when America decided to put Carly Smithson in the bottom 3. I wasn’t as surprised as the judges who said America got it wrong. I think she’s a little full of her self and probably comes off a little to cocky. ![]()
Half way through the show Ryan finally let Kristy Lee Cook know she, too, is in the bottom 3. Again, not surprising. At this point in the show I started to get a little nervous when my rock chick girl Amanda, along with Chikezie, joined Ryan for the final spot, but Chikezie and his boys at LAX shocked me once again when Amanda was asked to join Carly & Kristy in the bottom 3.
I was pretty sure that the girl who can’t even sing a note or show any personality was going home. Ryan first let Carly Smithson know she is safe, and this leaves Amanda & Kristy Lee Cook on the stage. After a few minutes of dramatic music Ryan tells my pick of the year it’s time to go home. I don’t believe for a minute that Kristy Lee Cook should be in the Top 10 over Amanda. I’m not a cry baby or want a recount, but this is a perfect example of this final result being more about popularity over talent.
