Gotee Records now an independent label
It has just been announced that after 14 years Gotee Records is now a full service independent label. They’ve bought back the minority stake that EMI had in the label. The label Co-Founder is none other than tobyMac and here’s what his partner Joey had to say..
Gotee Records and Emack Music are moving forward in a proactive and strategic fashion, and we plan to re-calibrate ourselves for the new consumer we’re now encountering in this business. Our next phase will obviously be heavily weighted on the digital market and how to engage that consumer.
One key element of this transition is configuration-based contracts to content based contracts. The talent signed to the Gotee will constantly be creating and releasing new music and in return the marketing will be on going.
How much would you pay for free music?
Jim Griffin, Warner Brothers new web strategist is either a really, really smart man, or an escapee from the asylum. His proposal, in a nutshell, is to charge everyone with an Internet account $5.00 per month as a music tax. (Yea, I know, it’s not really a tax because the government isn’t collecting it, but it’s still a tax - You’ll see why below).

This year’s event will be bigger and more ambitious than ever. The star-studded evening will echo the success of last year’s show which raised over $76 million.

14 years later they’ve started their own record label El Music Group. Ed admits that being on a legendary label like Atlantic Records for seven years and five albums developed many of the business relationships that has allowed them the opportunity to get back to their independent roots.

Ministry Spotlight: Teen Hopeline
Joseph Rojas from Seventh Day Slumber was a cocaine addict. Unlike a lot of Christian artists, his father wasn’t a pastor and he didn’t step from his parents house into a life of pop stardom. His story, and his band, Seventh Day Slumber, were the inspiration for Teen Hopeline. (THL) THL works closely with Seventh Day Slumber, and helps to minister to teen and young adults in need.
Teens and young adults today struggle with things that I as an adult find daunting and overwhelming. Depression, drug addiction, low self-esteem, abuse of all kinds… in addition to just being a teenager.

Disciple Going Pro…. Wrestling That Is
Our good friend Buddy at INO Records sent us this info on Disciple. Get ready for some smack down…
You hear this? In addition to all the success their current rock single Love Hate (On & On), my boys from Disciple recently found out that their new song “In The Middle of It Now” will be among the tracks featured on “WWE: The Music Vol. 8.” Apparently, “WWE: The Music Vol. 8″ unleashes right in time for WWE’s biggest bash of the year, WrestleMania XXIV live on pay-per-view on tomorrow at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Oh, and get this, WWE has sold more than six million CDs worldwide with five WWE Group album titles debuting in the US Top 10.
Anyways, WWE stars Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder will also be using the song as their theme song!
So yeah… forget this whole music thing. Dan Michaels are turning a new leaf… and we’re going to form a duo of our own… Nacho Libre style. If you’ve got any suggestions for my wrestling name, let me know.
